“Not because you are a governor, then you say..”, Delta governor Sheriff Oborevwori Taunts Fubara in Viral Video

In a trending video encountered by Reliant.ng online, Delta State governor, Sheriff Francis Oborevwori stirred buzz while  publicly speaking on the importance of loyalty to ones political benefactors and leaders.

The governor who spoke uninterruptedly, reminded state-governors specifically, the need for them to remain loyal and humble particularly to their political leaders while occupying such elevated position with overwhelming influence and privileges.

He cited himself as an example, declaring that he has maintained uninterrupted loyalty and respect to his political leaders while serving as the governor of Delta State. He disclosed that across the local government areas of Delta State that he has political leaders whom he pays unalloyed respect to. He advised state-governors to desist from seeing themselves as supreme and self-sufficient.

“You must have people. Like you still know, I am the governor but I still have leaders. There is local government I don’t have leaders. You can not say because you are a governor, then you are all and all. You must be loyal to your people because we are just serving them”, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori stated in the video.

This coincided with governor Siminalayi Fubara’s escalating feud with his political benefactor and minister for federal capital territory, Nyesom Wike. Hence, Nigerians online in their reactions to the governor Sheriff’s statement in the video, adjudged it as his taunting governor Sim Fubara who is at a political loggerhead with his political benefactor, Nyesom Wike unlike the Delta State governor that has maintained good relationship with his predecessor and political benefactor, Ifeanyi Okowa. The tension between governor Sim Fubara of Rivers state and his godfather, Nyesom Wike has aggravated the political volatility of the state recovering from a state of emergency.

Currently, governor Sim Fubara faces impeachment by the members of the Rivers state House of Assembly over alleged abuse of power and other seven charges levied against him by the legislative arm of the state.
