Why the north wants Tinubu out in 2027– Elochukwu Ohagi

Do not be surprised that most Northern Nigeria elders, religious heads, and notable political elites desperately want president Bola Ahmed Tinubu out in 2027. For them, Tinubu will only last for four years as Nigeria’s president.

It’s on record that the northern Nigeria was the reason president Bola Ahmed Tinubu won his presidential election in 2023; his first attempt at the presidential seat. But the north should not be praised for being patriotic nor respecting the diversity of the Nigeria’s nation by supporting a southern Nigerian over their fellow in the 2023 presidential.

In the manner of scratch my back and I will scratch your back: the north only returned a worthy favour done to them by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2015.

Tinubu who since 1999 till date has maintained direct and indirect control over Lagos State government and its resources, was pivotal in the successful conspiracy against president Goodluck Jonathan Ebele in 2014-2015.

For the survival and continued existence of Nigeria, a return of the favour was ineluctable; hence, Bola Ahmed Tinubu would become the president. This implies that denying Tinubu the presidential seat in 2023 would make the Yorubas join the Biafra seeking Igbos in demanding an end to the Nigeria union. So it was important for the northern Hausa/Fulani to remain in good terms with the Yoruba region at the expense of the Biafra seeking Igbos.

Hence, Peter Obi, an Igbo man though possessing the needed competence and distinct personality to reposition the country on the part of progress, was sacrificed at the alter of the Yoruba and Hausa/Fulani unholy political bromance.

But Why Has The North Grown Dissatisfied With The Tinubu’s Administration?

Today, the Hausa/Fulani is no longer happy with president Bola Ahmed Tinubu who has not only effected policies considered inimical to the north but has shown blatant disregard for their propaganda and specious belief of their being specially placed in the Nigeria federation to determine the direction of the country; hence, should be preferentially treated.

Has Tinubu disappointed them? No, Tinubu has come exert himself as the president of Nigeria and one who is invulnerable to the antics of the northern cabals. He has entrenched himself as a president subject only to his whims and caprices at the expense of the north who sees itself as a beautiful bride that must be persistently cared for and doted on.

The North has been tactically maintained this trajectory for years; making southern Nigerian president wavering and vulnerable. For many years, the North has always been in charge of the Central Bank, NNPC and other strategic positions. If they are not occupying  these positions, they will at least control power in the centre.

During Jonathan’s era, there was Sanusi Lamido at the Central Bank.

Tinubu’s arrival introduce a different trajectory; neither the CBN nor the NNPC is currently under the control of a core northern Nigerian. Understandably why the north, the special bride is angry with the Tinubu’s administration.

While the NNPC and CBN have been strategically taken from the northern country, president Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his alleged radicalism against the north, did not also place place a northern in charge of the federal capital territory nor in charge of  the federal revenue collection.

Tinubu has placed his interest above that of the north. The forthcoming national census will further infuriate the north as their boastful lies of possessing the population will be debunked.
