Political analyst and ardent supporter of Peter Obi’s presidential ambition, Hamma Hayatu has warned the opposition parties to be wary of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s strategic plan to winning the 2027 presidential election.
Hamma Hayatu through his X handle pointed out that president Tinubu notwithstanding his growing unpopularity among Nigerians is indeed strategic in his ploys. Hamma Hayatu explained that the opposition parties and presidential candidates must be cognizant of the fact that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu is divisive; often desperate to achieving his personal goal at the expense of the common good of all.
Hamma Hayatu reminded Nigerians how Tinubu cogently employed religious tact to win the majority of northern votes in the 2023 presidential election, at the expense of former vice president Atiku Abubakar; and former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi.
He noted that president Bola Ahmed strategically chose a core northern Muslim in 2023 despite being a Muslim so as to appeal to the vast northern voters who are predominantly Muslims.
According to him, in 2027 presidential election, president Bola Ahmed Tinubu is aware that his 2023 strategy is unlikely going to earn him victory in 2027 and has now adopted another strategy. He said president Tinubu’s new strategy is to employ divisive rethoric by appealing to the southerners not to be swayed by the northern politicians who want him removed so that the presidency would return to the north.
He would adopt this regional sentiment with the hope of making the southern voters to massively vote for him under the guise of supporting a southern presidential candidate and ensuring that the presidential power remains with the south.
Hamma Hayatu wrote: “Like him or hate him Tinubu is a strategist and a divisive one, the end justifies means.
“2023 he used religion to get the core north, 2027 he will use regional sentiments with southern presidency mantra, he is also cornering northern Christians that were Obidient 2023”.
