Suspended Anambra Lawmaker, Bernard Udemezue Makes Revelation About Governor Soludo

Lawmaker representing Ayamelum state constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Bernard Abuchi Udemezue (Isi Enyi) has opened up about his controversial suspension by the Anambra State House of Assembly members.
According to report, the lawmaker was suspended for alleged “unparliamentary conduct” which comprised incitement of his constituent especially on social media and also for abusing his legislative privileges.
Bernard Abuchi Udemezue reportedly disclosed to his constituents in a WhatsApp group that each lawmaker in Anambra State receives ten million naira quarterly as constituency project. Report says the lawmaker claims that most of the lawmakers do not utilized the said constituency project funds for the common good of their constituents and would rather divert the funds for their personal use.
The revelation by the lawmaker was perceived by the Anambra State House of Assembly members as incitement of the public against them as well as inimical to their public image.
A few days after his suspension, Bernard Udemezue in a video shared on social media, alleges that his suspension by the Anambra State House of Assembly members without pay is his being punished for his being transparent with his constituents and the people of Anambra.
He claims that his colleagues in the Anambra State House of Assembly are angry with him for his innocent disclosure of the amount each lawmaker receives quarterly as constituency empowerment funds; funds which the lawmakers divert for their personal use at the expense of the people.
He added that the House of Assembly members are mere puppets to the governor of Anambra state, Charles Chukwuma Soludo who run the state without respect for separation of powers.
Udemezue pointed out that governor Soludo had informed the lawmakers during a retreat that he is in charge of both the executive and legislative arms of the state’s government especially as his party is the majority in the House; hence, no separation of powers.
