Shehu Sani Suggests “The Way To Go” As Sharia Council Call For INEC Chair Sack Over His Stance On Christian Genócide

Former senator, Shehu Sani has waded into the agitation for the removal of the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), professor Joash Amupitan over his stance on christian genócide in Nigeria.

Recall that the chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Judicial Affairs in Nigeria, Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar accuses INEC chairman, professor Joash Amupitan of partiality and religious bigotry, stating that the elections supervised by him cannot be trusted and will not be accepted by the Supreme Council for Islamic Judicial Affairs of Nigeria.

The agitation from the leadership of the Supreme Council for Islamic Judicial Affairs is in response to alleged legal brief by professor Joash Amupitan on Christian genócide in Nigeria, allegedly appealing for foreign intervention in Nigeria to protect christians being persecuted in the country.

Senator Shehu Sani while reacting to Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar reaffirmation of his earlier call for professor Joash Amupitan’s sack, called for caution. He described the agitation from the leadership of the supreme council for Islamic judicial affairs as “unconscionable and not the way to go”. He called for restraint, stating that the INEC chairman should be supported and held accountable necessary for him to conduct credible elections for the sustainability of Nigeria’s democracy.

“Threats, mistrusts and casting aspersions on the INEC chairman is unconscionable and not the way to go.What is most important is that the Head of the electoral body should be tasked, monitored and supported to conduct credible and transparent elections for the sustenance of our democracy”, senator Shehu Sani stated.
