Kwankwaso Finally Informs His Supporters Political Party He Considers Joining, Seeks Their Opinion
Former governor of Kano state, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who is currently grappling with shock of governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s defection to the ruling party at the expense of their age long alliance and the members of the Kwankwasiyya movement, has seemingly sought the opinion of the members of the Kwankwasiyya movement on his next political party allegiance.
While speaking to a crowd of his supporters in Hausa, Kwankwaso told his supporters that he would rather join a new party, presumably the coalition party–African Democratic Congress (ADC) than join the ruling party–All Progressive Congress (APC).
He thereafter described the ruling party as one that has “destroyed” Nigeria through its poor administration and insensitive policies. Each of his sentences was received with cheers from the crowd, to signal their support for him and agreement to his claims especially his decision to align with a new party other than the APC.
“Instead of calling on us to lead people into the APC, we would rather join the ADC, a new party, than join a party that has destroyed Nigeria”, he stated.
Kwankwaso had informed his supporters that he would in due time tell them the political direction the Kwankwasiyya would go especially as his current political party, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) appears to have been factionalized and his faction not recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Reports also suggest that the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement has reached an agreement with the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for him to join the party.
Sources say the former governor of Kano state demanded that he be given the ADC’s vice presidential ticket as one of the conditions for his joining the coalition party–a condition an insider of the ruling party claims that Kwankwaso had given to president Tinubu for him to join the APC.
