Goodluck Jonathan Tells Fubara How To Pull Through His Political Feud With Wike
Former president Goodluck Jonathan has warned that the political crisis in Rivers state would degenerate into a major crisis across the Niger Delta region if not properly managed.
The former president Jonathan made the remark while advising governor Siminalayi Fubara at an event he served as its guest speaker in Rivers state. According to him, the governor must be steadfast in the face of the of the political crisis in Rivers state, describing it as inseparable from political leadership. He explained that the governor’s ability to surmount the obstacles placed on his path by his political adversaries would establish him as a true winner.
“I know you are passing through some challenges, in occasions like these, I try to keep quiet, I don’t like to say certain things. It’s the first time you are holding a top political office, we pass through a lot. And just know that no body becomes a general without fighting wars”, Goodluck Jonathan stated.
He suggested that governor Sim Fubara will come on top of his current political feud with Nyesom Wike through sheer commitment and the support of the Rivers state people. The former president however expressed optimism over the governor’s relationship with the people of Rivers state and that the governor will indeed emerge victorious over his political adversaries.
“So whatever challenge you are facing now is making you a general in politics. And with your total commitment and the support I have seen from the people of Rivers state, God will surely see you through. Don’t be perturbed, continue to do your work as you have been doing.
The wishes of the people, the prayers of the people are with you.And God will see through and see Rivers state through.
We want a peaceful Rivers state because it is the center of Niger Delta”.
Former president Goodluck Jonathan warned political leaders in Rivers state, emphasizing that if the ongoing crisis in the state is not managed properly, it will escalate to other states in the Niger Delta region.
“And I have always made it very clear, if we creat serious perturbation in Rivers state, we are creating crisis in the Niger Delta which is not good for our economy as a nation. We want a peaceful Rivers state, we want the governor of Rivers state to be allowed to remain calm and do his work. After he finishes serving, another person will come. The political offices are tenured, after he finishes his tenure, another person will take over, no need to kîll yourselves. Allow those who are there to do their work”.
