Father Mbaka reveals what Ogechi Njaka did to him and why she was arrested

Controversial social media commentator, Ogechi Njaka is currently held in a Nigerian correctional facility; Kuje Prison following her arrest by the Nigerian authority.

Though her detention is sparsely known by her audience despite her unusual absence on social media for a while, but Father Ejike Mbaka appears to have drawn the attention of the general public to her case and detention.

Reacting to the arrest and detention of Ogechi Njaka, foremost Catholic Priest in the southeastern Nigeria, Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka, the founder of Adoration Ministry Enugu, Nigeria (AMEN) has provided some insight into the reason the vociferous social commentator was arrested and being held in Kuje Prison.

While unverified reports claim that the social media commentator who describes herself as Christian activist, was arrested after the Nigerian authority received several petitions against her over her online publications and broadcast which are widely targeted at influential and popular Christian priests and considered as a breach of the Nigeria’s and international laws of defamatory and hate speech, there is no known official statement for her arrest and detention.

Father Ejike Mbaka while reacting to Ogechi Njaka’s arrest, described the development as an overdue and a good one. He claimed that Ogechi Njaka had severally made libelous publications and broadcast against him– according to him, the self-proclaimed Christian activist had through her social media accounts, claimed that he as a Catholic Priest has a wife and children. Mbaka explained  that her claims about him having a wife and children is defamatory and damaging to his Catholic priesthood. He revealed that he had reached out to  Ogechi Njaka over her defamatory claims about him, urging her to delete the publications as well as issue public apology but that she obstinately refused to delete the publications nor tender a public apology.

Father Ejike Mbaka said while her arrest is a welcome development but that the worst is yet to come for her.

He said though he may not have instigated her arrest but that he aims to further compound her current case by petitioning the Nigerian authority to also add his complaint to the ones that she has been arrested for.

Father Ejike Mbaka however did not rule out forgiving her. He said Ogechi Njaka will be forgiven if she is willing to meet his outlined conditions; conditions which include:

That she publicly apologizes for defaming him, retracting her earlier defamatory statement and telling the public that they were made bad faith.

That she names those who paid her and sponsored her into making those reputation damaging statement about him.

And that she must prove her allegation of his having a wife and children.

Father Mbaka said until she fulfils these conditions that he stands to make her face the wrath of the law.

Reliant.ng understands that Ogechi Njaka is currently facing charges bordering on criminal defamation, hate speech, and disturbance of public peace.

However, the identity of the complainant who had petitioned the Nigeria police for her arrest and subsequent detention, is not yet known to the general public.

However, the general feeling is that a priest whom she had talked about in her social media broadcast, is responsible.
