“Of course you know, he (Wike is an avowed supporter of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu even though not a member of the party and I well noted that in my statement. So as someone who is interested in the success of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Rivers state is critical to that and the success. Definitely he is being engaged and will be engaged to find amicable resolution of the issue in Rivers state as expected”, Ajibola Bashiru stated.
Recall that weeks ago, Ajibola Bashiru had in what was understood by the Wike’s camp as his taking side with governor Siminalayi Fubara, declared that governor Sim Fubara is the leader of the APC in Rivers state. He also pointed out that FCT minister, Nyesom Wike cannot be claiming to be in control of the party in Rivers state when he is not a member of the party.
Nyesom Wike who saw Ajibola Bashiru’s remark as a direct confrontation, warned him to desist from commenting on Rivers state political matters. He advised the APC’s national secretary to focus on his responsibility to his party and avoid Rivers state.
