Abike Dabiri Mocks Igbos, Celebrates Distasteful Tweet About The Igbos

The chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri has seemingly celebrated a bigotry laced tweet on x about the Igbo ethnicity in Nigeria.

Abike Dabiri whose bearing on recent social issues in Nigeria, suggests tribalism, through her X handle, reposted an offensive tweet which refered to Igbos as “g0rrillas”, ungrateful people who do not see anything good about Nigeria nor about the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The controversial tweet which was reposted by Abike Dabiri was originally made by X handle with the username: Wale S Akerele who applauded Abike Dabiri for her role in the rescue of a stranded Nigerian lady in Libia. The said lady, identified simply as Mercy, in an a SOS plea she made on her Facebook page, called on relevant bodies and concerned Nigerians to help her to return to Nigeria, bemoaning her agony in Libia.

Akerele while referring to Abike Dabiri as his sister, praised her for her assisting in rescuing  the said lady; he thereafter claimed in the controversial tweet that the Igbos are born ungrateful and are children of g0rrillas and without reputable ancestry. Abike Dabiri reposted the controversial tweet with laughing emojis.

Abike Dabiri reposting the widely adjudged bigotry tweet about the Igbos has attracted critical responses from Nigerians on X community. She is reminded that she currently occupies a respected public office and required to serve the interest of every Nigerian irrespective of their ethnicity. While Nigerians have continued to criticize the former member of House of Representatives for reposting such an offensive tweet, she appears unperturbed as she has not deleted the tweet.

A few weeks ago, Abike Dabiri faced similar controversy when she publicly appealed to Nigerians through her X handle to forgive Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAN1) for his disruptive behavior at the airport. She was accused of siding with KWAN1 and pleading on his behalf despite the magnitude of the singer’s offense because of their shared ethnicity.

Previously, Abike Dabiri had been accused of micro-aggression against the Igbos.
