Former aide to late president Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad has revealed that professor Chukwuma Soludo’s visit to Aso Rock on 12th of August, 2025 has deep implications on Peter Obi.
Professor Chukwuma Soludo who seeks reelection in the Anambra State November gubernatorial election, visited president Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Aso Rock.
The Anambra State grappling to earn reelection amid his faltering popularity in the state and beyond, is understood to have visited the president to seek his support in the November governorship election.
The governor visited Aso Rock with his usual indigenous attire and cap doted with president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s long-standing insignia as well as an inscription which read, thus: “Progressive Working Together”.
Speaking after meeting president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Soludo declared his support for president Tinubu’s reelection in 2027. He said he endorses the president for reelection based on the courageous daunting policies the president has implemented since coming onboard. He also cited his 22 year old friendship with president Tinubu for his endorsing him for reelection in 2027. He stated that his public show of support for the president as well as his endorsement is irrespective of the public opinion.
Bashir Ahmad while reacting to the meeting of the duo in Aso Rock, highlighted the meaning of the Tinubu’s insignia on governor Soludo’s cap as well as the “progressive working together” inscription– according to him, they symbolize where governor Soludo’s loyalty lie and also means that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu is “winning” in the stronghold of his potential challenger in the 2027 presidential election, Peter Obi.
Governor Soludo’s visit to Aso Rock to meet president Tinubu comes barely a month the president received the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Anambra State November governorship election, Nicholas Ukachukwu. The president openly endorsed the APC candidate who assured the president that the APC will have a successful outing in the election.
Political commentators believe that Soludo meeting the president in Aso Rock after a few months he hosted the president in Anambra state, is a desperate move to earn the president’s support at the expense of Nicholas Ukachukwu, the APC’s governorship candidate.
