The immediate past chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ralph Nwosu has revealed that the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government made some mouth watering offers to him.

Ralph Nwosu who willfully abdicated his chairmanship positionh alongside with other members of the ADC national executive council, paved the way for the ADC to become the coalition party.

At his resignation alongside with the members of the ADC NEC, an interim national leadership led by former senate president David Mark and former governor Rauf Aregbesola took over the leadership of the party as interim national chairman and interim national secretary of the party respectively.

While commenting on his decision to make such a sacrifice, Ralph Nwosu revealed that he was advised by people close to him not to resign his position as the national chairman of the party. He also revealed that the presidency attempted to scuttle the coalition through him but that he resisted their offers.

According to him, he was averse to Nigeria becoming a one Party state under the leadership of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Hence, he wanted a strong opposition to emerge and was willing to make the sacrifice for Nigeria’s sake.

According to unverified claims on Nigeria’s social media space, Ralph Nwosu was reportedly offered ten billion naira and ministerial positions for him to reject the coalition leadership seeking to adopt ADC as the coalition platform.

However, the report has been greeted with mixed reactions from Nigerians as some expressed awe and appreciation to him for his tremendous patriotic sacrifice in the face of the underperforming government of president of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Also, many doubted the veracity of the claims that he was offered 10billion naira and ministerial positions for to reject the coalition leaders.

Prior to the emergence of the African Democratic Congress as the coalition party, major opposition parties in Nigeria were plagued with infighting and leadership crises suspected to be sponsored by the Tinubu’s government for the purpose of preventing a strong opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Some of the prominent members of the opposition parties, publicly defend the ruling party and some appointed into president Tinubu’s cabinet while also maintaining their membership to the opposition party.
