Salt to injury!!” Ganduje Sends Soothing Words To Kwankwaso Over Gov. Yusuf Defection

Former governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje has seemingly sent soothing words to his predecessor and erstwhile political ally, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso following the defection of his political protege, governor Yusuf Abba Kabir to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Governor Yusuf Abba Kabir was formally received into the ruling party, APC after weeks of speculations over his political future and fallout with his political godfather, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. The occasion which held in Kano state yesterday, witnessed former governor Abdullahi Ganduje and deputy senate president, Barau Jibrin symbolically lifting governor Yusuf’s two hands to signify his official admission into the ruling party.

His switch to the APC came at the expense of decades of alliance with former governor Kwankwaso–an act the later has publicly described as betrayal, more so because the governor has now aligned with Kwankwaso’s forefront political rival, Abdullahi Ganduje.

Lamenting to his followers over governor Yusuf’s defection to the APC, Kwankwaso while speaking to his supporters yesterday in his Kano home, boasted to his supporters that the Kwankwasiyya political movement will emerge victorious over its adversaries. According to him, victory is assured.

However, former governor Ganduje while speaking to BBC Hausa, soothingly appealed to Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso not to feel rueful over governor Yusuf’s choice to align with the APC and president Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He suggested that he is ready to reconcile with Kwankwaso and revive their relationship after close to a decade of rivalry. He enjoined Kwankwaso to accept his reconciliation appeal necessary for them to work together as they did before for the prosperity and development of Kano state.

“In the future, we hope to settle our differences with Kwankwaso and work together. We have worked together before, we are family”.

Reactions have trailed Ganduje’s invitation to Kwankwaso for reconciliation. Social media commentaries on Ganduje’s remake insinuate that the former national chairman of the APC might be taunting Kwankwaso especially as the later had yesterday  publicly vowed to ensure that governor Yusuf is defeated by his candidate in 2027.
