“No One Can Dictate For Us Here, We Will Resist Them,” Wike Dares President Tinubu

Former governor of Rivers state and current minister for the federal capital territory, Nyesom Wike has issued a subtle threat to president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, warning that he and his supporters can not be ignored by the president and that any attempt by the presidency to dictate what happens in Rivers state will be resisted

Former governor Nyesom Wike made the statement on Sunday, 28th of December while speaking during his special Christmas visit to Emohua Local Government Area.

The former governor recalled his sheer dedication and sacrifice to president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential ambition and campaign in 2023. According to him, he and his political allies identified with the president when “it was difficult” for people to do so. He recounted how he mobilized the Rivers state people particularly the Ikwerre ethnicity who at that point were sceptical about Tinubu winning the election to vote massively for president Tinubu, resulting in his election victory. Wike also boasted that the local government areas in Ikwerre ethnicity of Rivers state gave president Tinubu massive vote which made him win the 2023 presidential election.

As a result, he warns that the president can not ignore him and his supporters. He said the presidency will be making a grievous mistake by ignoring them, insinuating that he is ready to resist any attempt by powerful politicians to decide who becomes the governor of Rivers state.

“No body can come here in Rivers state to dictate for us, we will resist them. We did that to a former governor now who was more powerful and richer, we will do it again. Heaven will not fall. As my people, you don’t need to panic. Ikwerre will continue to be relevant in the politics of this country. The Ikwerre ethnic nationality is not one you can ignore, and let nobody make the mistake of ignoring us. If you ignore us, you ignore yourself. If you check the 2023 election, the local governments in Ikwerre gave Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu the highest votes that made him to win”, Nyesom Wike stated in video captured by Channels Tv.

He had while speaking at the same event, touted governor Siminalayi Fubara over his defection to the All Progressive Congress and for his support for the president Tinubu. Wike told governor Sim Fubara that he will not get the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship ticket for 2027 because he is supporting president Tinubu.

He assured the governor that he will be disappointed alongside with those misleading him. According to him, the governor is currently being misled by those close to the president who falsely assure him that he will get the APC governorship ticket.
